To keep the truck clean and to avoid damages, it is necessary to use covers or carpets for protection of fenders, seats, etc. If a fender will not cover, when you bend over the engine, it is easy to make scratches with a belt buckle or a screw key which is sticking out of a pocket.
In case of any repair in an engine compartment disconnect the negative terminal from the accumulator. During the work it is possible that you will arrange short circuit on the body of the car, if you put a wrench on the accumulator or casually touching an open terminal of the generator, for example, with a screwdriver. As it is noticed from experience, when the negative terminal is removed, it is very complex to arrange short circuit.
If you want to remove the storage battery, at first disconnect the negative terminal. At the setting of the storage battery the negative terminal connects also the last. If you will do it not in this order the short circuit will be very possibly (try at first to remove “plus”, i.e. to turn off a nut which is under tension, and not to touch with a key of the car body, if besides the storage battery is in cramped box).
If the truck should be repaired on a jack, don’t start the repair until the hand brake will be duplicated (put the stop blocks under wheels) and a jack (put a chock under the truck near to a jack - but not instead of it! - or, in the last resort, the removed and spare wheels, putting them flatways each other).
Do not suppose falling on a floor of various demounted truck parts for dodge of the car, especially different sensors, relays, electronic modules, etc. For example, Japanese, according to their instructions, never use the relay fallen to a floor.
During the detachment of various connectors don’t draw for wires, otherwise a stopper of a contact connector may not sustain such handling, and the contact connector will be displaced from a regular place. At the following connection this connector may not to get the counterpart.
Remove rubber tubes carefully. Don’t try to remove them from branch pipes and metal tubes simply jerking for the free end. In that case it is possible both to tear off a tube, and to wound an arm, when this tube suddenly will be removed or will tear.
Dismantling of any details, use fabric gloves for hand’s protection. Even advanced mechanics can wound hands without the gloves, the key can be fallen with everyone.
Putting on of any rubber tubes on branch pipes, it is necessary to oil with any grease the branch pipe and that place on a tube on which the clamp fastened. It is necessary from those reasons, that rubber has a very big friction coefficient, and for sealing it is necessary, that it will flow into all bumps of a surface on which passes the gasket.
Before to remove any tube, try to understand, for what it is used. Then, at the next assemblage, you will establish it on a place without any problems. Also after removals of any tube or a cord assembly find out, where else it is possible to connect it by mistake at the next assembly and assume the measures it does not happen: for example, hang up labels or write down on a leaf, from which place of your truck this tube has been disconnected. Keep in mind, that at the most trucks all vacuum tubes are marked. Tubes with equal marking, as a rule, ought to be connected somewhere among themselves. In many cases there is a marking of branch pipes on which these tubes are putting. And, at last, in an engine compartment (or on a bonnet) there is a diagram of connection of vacuum mains with their marks.
Use only the serviceable tools. Avoid to use spanners. In this case the bolt ends will be safe and the hands won’t be injured. All these requirements are based on our own experience, and their non-observance not so many years ago led to different predicaments during truck repairs.
